Reflection On The State Of The Nation (SONA) Address 2024 With CEO Of Business Leadership South Africa Busisiwe Mavuso
Busisiwe Mavuso serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA), a role she has held since July 2019. With extensive experience in finance and leadership, Busisiwe previously served as the Managing Director of the Black Management Forum (BMF) before joining BLSA as the Chief Operations Officer in November 2017.

Alongside her role at BLSA, she holds non-executive director positions on various boards, including Business Unity South Africa (BUSA) and Resultant Finance. Busisiwe is recognized for her advocacy for inclusive socio-economic growth and transformation.

Busisiwe Mavuso, CEO of Business Leadership South Africa, articulates the formidable challenges confronting businesses in South Africa, ranging from electricity disruptions to navigating complex regulatory frameworks. Despite past pledges to improve the business environment, recent State of the Nation addresses have notably lacked emphasis on this critical issue. Busisiwe highlights the absence of progress from the president’s red tape unit and underscores the urgent need for substantial improvements in crime intelligence and prosecution to combat corruption effectively.

Ultimately, Busisiwe emphasizes the pivotal role of an improved business environment in fostering economic growth, job creation, and driving meaningful change across the country. Business Leadership South Africa is dedicated to advancing this agenda, recognizing its significance in enabling companies to thrive and contribute positively to South Africa’s socio-economic landscape.

Festival Da Canção With South African Singer Filipa

South Africa is once again making waves on the global stage, this time in the realm of music as Pretoria-born singer/songwriter FILIPA competes against Portugal’s finest talent in the prestigious Festival da Canção 24. Organized by the national broadcasters, RTP, Festival da Canção is Portugal’s premier music event, with the winner earning the coveted opportunity to represent the country in Eurovision.

FILIPA’s participation is not only a tremendous honor but also a testament to her talent and dedication. Her song, ‘You Can’t Hide’, has been selected as one of the 20 finalists out of over 800 entries, an impressive feat considering 16 of these finalists are established Portuguese artists. Despite the daunting nature of the competition, FILIPA is no stranger to the spotlight, having won an international competition with her rendition of One Direction’s ‘Story of My Life’ in 2014.

Over the years, she has captivated audiences with her chart-topping hits in South Africa and gained recognition in the US and UK markets. ‘You Can’t Hide’ is a testament to FILIPA’s evolution as an artist, embodying her authentic voice and love for pop music with a twist. As she fine-tunes her performance for the Festival da Canção, scheduled for late February, FILIPA remains committed to making both Portugal and South Africa proud. With the semi-finals airing on DStv channel 435, audiences have the opportunity to witness FILIPA’s journey and support her as she competes for the chance to represent Portugal on the Eurovision stage.
