Cold Blood: The Violent Crime Cases of Mike Bolhuis follows Specialist Investigator Mike Bolhuis as he delves into one of the country’s most perplexing cold cases. The show aims to shed light on the brutal murder of Yolandi Botes, a mother of three whose dismembered body was found in the Vaal River. Despite the passage of two years, the killer or killers remain unidentified, and Mike Bolhuis embarks on a relentless pursuit to bring them to justice.

Yolandi Botes went missing on 26 April 2021, and her body was discovered by a grandfather and his grandson in the Vaal River on 4 May 2021. Due to the dismemberment of her body, identification became possible only through a tattoo on her forearm, bearing the date of her wedding and her husband’s name. The circumstances surrounding her death and the events of that fateful day remain shrouded in mystery, making the investigation a challenging task for Mike Bolhuis.

Lead investigator Mike Bolhuis expresses that the murder of Yolandi Botes stands out as one of the most notable cases in his career. Recognizing the need to re-investigate and consider all evidence, Mike Bolhuis is determined to ensure justice for Yolandi’s family and to bring closure to this horrifying crime. The executive producer of the series, Rian van Heerden, emphasizes the importance of uncovering the truth and providing answers for Yolandi’s loved ones, highlighting the significance of this documentary in shedding light on the case.

To encourage public cooperation and gather vital information, a reward of R500’000 will be paid by long-term, existing clients of Specialised Security Services (SSS) for any information that directly leads to the successful prosecution, sentencing, and incarceration of the murderer(s). The Specialised Security Services (SSS), along with the South African Police Service (SAPS) Task Team, appeals to the public for assistance in solving this brutal murder.

The SAPS Task Team, led by Detective W/O Theuns Fourie from Villiers SAPS, can be reached at 082 301 9635 or 058 821 3001 (Villiers SAPS Station). The SSS Task Team, headed by Mr. Mike Bolhuis and assisted by various SAPS members and private investigators, can be contacted at 082 447 6116 (Mike Bolhuis), 082 222 5821 (Luke Enslin), 082 820 3680 (Werner Koekemoer), 079 527 8886 (Cecil Benade), or 066 007 1818 (Maatje Swanepoel).

Jason Goliath reflects on the impact of the pandemic and the subsequent need to rebuild and find new starting points. The partnership with The Artistry aligns perfectly with this objective, as the venue is designed to celebrate artists.
