3 TREATMENTS WE TRIED AT THE NEW ‘THE VIEW’ SPA AT THE RADISSON BLU HOTEL SANDTON

A new spa called ‘The View’ by 27Pinkx has opened at Laico Isle, the building that is home to the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton and, under new management, offers an array of exclusive treatments and an oasis of tranquillity to both day visitors and hotel guests. Facilities include Rasul chambers and Vichy showers.

  • Established in 2012, 27Pinkx was originally launched as an online makeup and accessory store, by make-up virtuoso’s, sisters Anjum and Khatija Ahmed.
  • ‘The View’ spa marks the second physical presence for the 27Pinkx brand, which already has a beauty bar in Pretoria.
  • A Halogen Salt Therapy room with sodium chloride generator is just one of the unique spa amenities.

Boasting an array of refreshed facilities, ‘The View’ by 27Pinkx is tastefully furnished and decorated, bringing a much needed service offering to the Radisson Blu Hotel Sandton. Equipped with a decadent array of treatment rooms and spa essentials, like a dry sauna, boutique salon space and heated Roman bath with a 180-degree view of the city, the spa has even taken the gents into consideration, with a generous sized selection of ‘guy gowns’.

The Sandton Times spent an afternoon taking in ‘The View’ and some of it’s treatments, one of which is the Collagen Rejuvenating Facial. Assigned to a very practiced therapist, the rejuvenating ritual featuring advanced exfoliation technology combined with a unique system of high-grade collagen left our skin revitalized, soft and glowing. Integrated with a soothing face massage, set in one of the serene therapy rooms, it’s a great way to unwind and pamper the one part of your body most exposed to online meetings.

This relaxing treatment was followed by a Ginger and Lavender Poultice Massage, designed for the ultimate deep relaxation to aid in muscle recovery and increased lymphatic flow from your lower back to the intricate muscles of your neck and shoulders. Once again, our therapist did not disappoint, as the soothing liquids emitted from the infused cloth released a fragrant Ginger and Lavender scent, easing tense muscles and relaxing even the busiest mind.

Finally a visit to the Salt Room is one not to be missed, as the room furnished with lavish recliners on a sea of salt, offers a space to switch off and maybe squeeze in a power-nap, as the halo-generator pumps infuse the room air with atomized salt mist. It is believed that this has many benefits including aiding with injured and diseased cells, helping cells consolidate inflammation and mucus, detoxifying the respiratory system, alleviating anxiety and promoting better sleep.

It’s also a good spot to enjoy one final treatment: The Scrub and Rub Hand & Foot Ritual. This absolute treat for tired feet and hands includes a re-mineralised Atlantic sea salt exfoliation followed by a muscle easing massage. Once the scrub is gently washed off with warm water, both hands and feet are soothed with an Aloe Ferox gel and wrapped and left to ease and soften.
