Apple TV + Documentary ‘Animal.’ With Director, Co-Producer & Writer Josh Feldman

After years spent producing blockbuster reality shows in Africa, like Shark Tank, Survivor, and The Voice Nigeria, acclaimed South African director Josh Feldman found himself searching for deeper meaning in his work. The turning point came after the passing of his brother, whose lifelong health struggles led Josh to question whether his creative output was truly contributing to human wellbeing.

That soul-searching journey culminated in Animal., a 2025 documentary that dives deep into the carnivore diet – and the global forces that have shaped how we eat. Partnering with executive producer Vinny Lingham, whose own health transformation through carnivory inspired the project, Josh embarked on a personal four-month experiment. The results astonished him: his chronic eczema vanished, and a new level of mental clarity emerged.

But Animal. isn’t just about meat – it’s about reconnection. Through stunning cinematography, bold interviews, and emotional storytelling, the film explores how political, economic, and even religious agendas – dating back to the creation of the food pyramid – have warped our natural relationship with food. Featuring leading voices like Dr. Shawn Baker, Dr. Anthony Chaffee, and Dr. Ken Berry, the documentary challenges mainstream nutrition narratives and calls for a return to ancestral eating patterns that once fuelled human evolution.

With original music by Goldfish, Animal. reached #1 on Apple charts within two weeks of release across the U.S., Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa. For Josh, it represents far more than a film – it’s a movement toward intuitive healing, mindful consumption, and reclaiming our primal connection to food and consciousness.

Now streaming on Apple TV+, Animal. dares audiences to question everything they think they know about nutrition – and perhaps rediscover themselves along the way.

Chef Katlego Mlambo is gearing up for an extraordinary year – both personally and professionally. The dynamic culinary star, who became a household name as a MasterChef South Africa judge, recently announced on social media that he and his partner are expecting their first child in 2025. While fatherhood awaits, so too does another exciting chapter in his career, as Chef Katlego returns to the judging panel for the sixth season of MasterChef South Africa, now finding a new home on e.tv.

The upcoming season, set to air on Sundays at 6pm from February 2026, promises to celebrate South Africa’s diverse culinary landscape. Home cooks across the country can apply to compete for the prestigious MasterChef South Africa title and a R1-million prize, with entries closing on 16 October 2025 at masterchefsa.tv.

Chef Katlego, who fell in love with cooking as a child under the guidance of his grandmother and aunts, has since built an impressive career. After honing his skills abroad in the UK and USA, he studied at the Silwood School of Cookery and went on to earn accolades such as the 2019 Eat Out Nederburg Rising Star Award. That same year, he represented South Africa as head chef at the Nelson Mandela Centenary Celebrations in Washington, D.C. His creative flair also saw Johannesburg’s Marabi Club crowned African Restaurant of the Year at the Luxe Awards.

Joining Chef Katlego on the judging panel are culinary icons Zola Nene and Justine Drake, both returning for their third consecutive season. Zola, a celebrated chef and cookbook author, continues to inspire food lovers through television and her award-winning books, while Justine brings decades of experience as a food editor, author, and TV personality.

Produced by Homebrew Films for Primedia Studios, MasterChef South Africa Season 6 will be filmed at Atlantic Studios in Cape Town. With its blend of passion, culture, and local flavour, this new chapter promises to be one of the show’s most delicious yet – a true feast for a food-loving nation.

Latest On The Cinema Circuit With Entertainment Commentator Tat Wolfen

Big Bold Beautiful Journey

What if you could step back in time and re-live the moments that shaped who you are today? That’s the premise of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, a whimsical and emotional new film starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell.

Sarah (Margot Robbie) and David (Colin Farrell) are two strangers who meet by chance at a friend’s wedding. Their connection is instant but mysterious, and a twist of fate soon propels them into a surreal adventure – one that allows them to walk through doorways leading to the most defining moments of their pasts. As they revisit their personal histories, both joyous and painful, they begin to understand how those experiences shaped their present selves – and perhaps, how they might rewrite their futures.

Directed by Kogonada and written by Seth Reiss, the film blends romance, fantasy, and introspection into a visually stunning, time-bending odyssey. With supporting performances from Kevin Kline and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey explores the delicate balance between nostalgia and destiny, regret and redemption.

Ultimately, it’s a story about connection – with others and with ourselves – reminding us that every choice, every memory, and every missed opportunity forms part of the beautiful, messy journey called life.

The Smashing Machine

The Smashing Machine tells the gripping true story of Mark Kerr, one of mixed martial arts’ most dominant and complex figures. Portrayed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Mark rose to fame in the brutal early days of MMA and the UFC, earning a reputation as an unstoppable force in the ring. But behind the victories and championship belts lay a man battling intense personal demons.

At the height of his success, Mark’s career – and life – began to unravel under the weight of opioid addiction, exposing the physical and emotional toll of a sport that demanded everything from its fighters. The film explores his rise, fall, and fight for redemption, offering a raw look at the price of greatness in a world that celebrates strength but often overlooks pain.

Written and directed by Benny Safdie (Uncut Gems), and co-starring Emily Blunt, The Smashing Machine promises a powerful blend of heart, grit, and humanity. Produced by the studio behind Everything Everywhere All At Once, Midsommar, Moonlight, and Euphoria, this film brings Mark’s remarkable journey to life – a story of power, vulnerability, and the struggle to reclaim control when life delivers its hardest hits.
