Known as the heart of Venice, it boasts attractions like the Basilica di San Marco, with its Byzantine mosaics and golden domes, and the Campanile, offering panoramic city views. The nearby Doge’s Palace, a Gothic architectural masterpiece, is filled with opulent rooms and historical artworks. Connected to an old prison by the Bridge of Sighs, it evokes Venice’s storied past.
For a taste of local life, Venice’s culinary scene is a treat. Bacaros, or Venetian wine bars, serve cicchetti, small plates similar to Spanish tapas, and local favorites like seafood risotto. Don’t miss the islands of Murano and Burano. Murano is famous for its glassmaking workshops, where artisans demonstrate traditional techniques, while Burano’s colorful houses and lacework offer charm and picturesque views.
During our stay, we chose the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice on Giudecca Island – a historic flour mill transformed into a luxurious hotel. The rooms are spacious with many offering views of the Grand Canal or Venice’s skyline, making it a welcome retreat after a day of exploration. The hotel’s rooftop terrace with an infinity pool is perfect for a sunset view of Venice, while the Aromi Restaurant offers exceptional Venetian cuisine. A convenient shuttle service to St. Mark’s Square also provides scenic transport back to the city’s attractions.
Venice’s labyrinth of canals and alleyways invite exploration and the chance to discover hidden gems. Although a gondola ride may be pricey, it’s a quintessential way to experience the city’s romantic ambiance, especially at sunset. As we look back, Venice continues to entice with layers of history, stunning scenery, and cultural richness, leaving much to explore on a future visit.

Verona, the city of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, enchants visitors with its history, romance, and lively culture. Easily accessible by Italy’s efficient high-speed trains, Verona offers remarkable sights and experiences for any traveller.
A prime attraction is the Arena di Verona, an ancient Roman amphitheatre dating back to the first century AD. With a capacity of about 15,000, it hosts world-class music performances under the stars, offering a unique combination of historic ambiance and modern entertainment. Booking tickets in advance is advisable due to its popularity.
Piazza delle Erbe, once a Roman forum, serves as the heart of Verona’s historic centre. This vibrant square is lined with medieval buildings and market stalls selling fresh produce and local crafts. Nearby, the Torre dei Lamberti, Verona’s tallest tower, offers panoramic views of the city, ideal for photos.

The house features the iconic balcony and walls covered in love notes from visitors worldwide. Next, Piazza della Signoria serves as Florence’s political heart, home to the Palazzo Vecchio and a replica of Michelangelo’s David, with the original displayed in the nearby Accademia Gallery.
