20 talented newcomers who, selected at random, unleashed 5-minutes of their best material, captivating the audience with their fresh and innovative comedic styles.
The stage provided these rising stars with a unique opportunity to showcase their comedic prowess on a prestigious stage.
Newcomers were flown from various corners of South Africa by LIFT – some experiencing a flight for the very first time.

The 2024 edition of the Savanna Newcomer Showcase proved to be a major success, as emerging South African talent vied for the coveted Savanna Newcomer Award at the upcoming Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards.

With the industry now having witnessed the newcomers’ performances, the next step involves casting votes to determine the top 5 comedians who will be named finalists at the Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards nominee announcement event in February 2024.

Now in its 11th year, the Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards were established to nurture the comedy industry, recognizing pioneers who have paved new paths while supporting emerging talents in reaching their full potential.

The overarching goal is to elevate the careers of comedians, helping them sell out shows and positioning them as sought-after MCs and hosts for corporate events. Additionally, the ultimate aspiration is for South Africa’s exceptional comedic talent to be featured in international comedy festivals and to attract top international acts to tour the country.

The 2024 Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards main event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 13 April 2024, at The Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City.
