The much-anticipated The Hazendal officially opened its doors following a ribbon cutting ceremony held earlier this month. Situated in the grounds of the expansive Hazendal Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, The Hazendal combines striking modern design elements with historical Cape Dutch architecture to create a lavish new Cape Winelands accommodation establishment.

The hotel’s exterior is clean, minimalist, and attractive, making use of traditional whites, blacks, and charcoals to blend in with the existing estate architecture. Juxtaposing the austerity of these colours is an interior featuring bright artworks, natural sky lights, and an oasis of indoor flower beds.

Each of The Hazendal’s 34 rooms have been individually decorated and stocked with every modern convenience. Original artworks curated by the inhouse Marvol Gallery showcase a variety of up and coming South African talent. In every room you can expect to find Smart TVs, pod coffee machines, air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, and Africology bath products.

The Hazendal’s shady central courtyard forms the heart of the property. This area boasts a heated swimming pool and stylish pergolas that will offer a relaxed and sophisticated space to soak up the Wineland’s sunshine during a stay.

In a thrilling conclusion to Gauteng Province’s October Transport Month, teams recently engaged in the exhilarating Amazing Public Transport Race, spanning Johannesburg, Tshwane, and Ekurhuleni. The race, organized by Gautrain, showcased the diverse and wide-ranging public transport options available in the region.

Kicking off at Gautrain Sandton Station, teams embarked on a journey using various modes of public transport, deciphering clues leading to checkpoints across the three cities. The first team to cross the finish line claimed the coveted grand prize, adding an element of competition to the celebration of public mobility.

This event aligns with Gautrain’s commitment to being the province’s mobility of choice. The success of the Gautrain Management Agency (GMA) was spotlighted, achieving its 11th consecutive clean audit from the Auditor-General for the 2022/2023 financial year.

Beyond the race’s excitement, the socio-economic impact of mega-projects, such as the Gautrain rail network, underscores the importance of maintaining and expanding South Africa’s transport infrastructure. These projects stimulate commercial and residential development around transport hubs, fostering integration partnerships with diverse stakeholders.

As the Amazing Public Transport Race wrapped up, the event not only celebrated a successful day out but also reinforced the vital role of accessible, workable, seamless and integrated public transport in building thriving communities and driving economic growth.
