There’s nothing quite like South African weather and combined with the hugely attractive price point, our home on the Southern tip of Africa is one British tourists shouldn’t miss out on. That’s according to Sara who enjoys a return to South Africa, having last visited in 1995. Whilst there are a few things to work on, like service and South Africa’s world renowned crime and safety record, there is so much tourists can enjoy and experience at very reasonable prices, which should have international travelers flocking to our shores.

Adele reflects on a week long journey on the Norwegian Jade, which had seen the most South African passengers aboard any NCL trip to date, during this first season in the region.

In December 2022, Norwegian Jade became the first vessel in the NCL line’s 18 ship fleet to home-port from the newly developed Cape Town Cruise Terminal, offering international and local guests a 12-day journey along the South African coast with an overnight stay in Cape Town and visits to Mossel Bay, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), Richard’s Bay and onwards to Luderitz and Walvis Bay in Namibia.

Adele references James Vos, a member of the mayoral committee responsible for economic growth for the City of Cape Town. According to him, the cruise ship sector brings an estimated R100-million in passenger spend to a port on each visit. In addition to this, one job is created for every 12 cruise guests.

Following a milestone inaugural season sailing out of Cape Town, Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has set its sights on 2024, bringing the Norwegian Dawn into South African waters.
