RESTAURANT NEAR ME: OPA! A TASTE OF GREECE AT PAPPAS ON THE SQUARE

Whilst many of us have been craving the taste of the Mediterranean sea air and smell of those classic Greek flavours, it all might still have to wait – well at least the former. With South African COVID-19 regulations easing to Alert Level 2, it was time to visit Pappas on the Square.

It’s been a gruelling time for most eateries in greater Sandton, many of which have become institutions for both locals and regular visitors. One of those is Pappas on the Square, with its great menu and perfect location, overlooking Nelson Mandela Square.

 

Pappas is a family-owned Mediterranean restaurant that has been in business for over three decades and in 2017, underwent a massive interior renovation designed and implemented by REIS Interiors. Whilst most have been in lockdown, many might have missed the new Pappas with its modern Greek atmosphere and traditional Greek entertainment upon request.

In addition to this, and in the Zeitgeist of food delivery and food to go, Pappas also has Pappas on the Street which offers some all-time favourite street-food style meals to go, available on Nelson Mandela Square.

 

During a casual weekday dinner, The Sandton Times had a chance to taste some of the new and classic dishes that make Pappas on the Square an all-time favourite destination for those Mediterranean flavours. We’ve picked our favourites dishes and drinks!
