Every car enthusiasts dream of driving a Supercar along South Africa, mixed with hill climbs, high speed sprints, street circuits and night races will become a reality this week, as Supercar owners participating in the Daytona Rally make their way along the Garden Route.
The selected stretch, Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) to Cape Town, will cover roughly 1’543-kms over the 5-days and will include opportunities for the general public to enjoy the beauty, power and sheer brut of the Supercars taking part. Included in the fleet will be some very unique vehicles that have never been seen in South Africa before. Included are an array of limited-edition vehicles such as the McLaren 765LT, Porsche GT3 RS , Ferrari F8 Tri Turbo and McLaren Senna, as well as a few special collection cars like a 1992 BMW 325i and Corvette Stingray.
This past Sunday, Supercar fans were treated to a display of a large portion of the vehicles taking part in the Rally including a Lamborghini Aventador S Roadster, Ferrari 488, McLaren Senna and Porsche GT3 RS. Melrose Arch and Daytona hosted the first Supercar Sunday in the precinct to bid farewell to the vehicles before they head down to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) in anticipation for the big start.
The Daytona Rally is considered to be an octane fueled 5-star luxury road-trip, with glitz and glamour meeting raw engine performance. Two years in the making, the Daytona Rally has ensured that every detail has been meticulously scrutinized and perfected by the Justworx Daytona Rally organisers, to create a 6-day and 6-night rally, where captains of industry will be able to put pedal to the metal and let their high-performance rides run free. As the organisers put it, ‘this is where the dust of thousands of horsepower fades into nights where the stars shine brighter than ever’.
The mammoth logistical task of coordinating a few million Rands worth of Supercars, across multiple days and provinces, with a full on-road support team, security and unmarked surveillance falls in the hands of Phoenix Events.
For years we have been creating experiences for Hyper and Supercar owners to go out for a day or two in their vehicles, and the feedback is always fantastic but the drivers wish for more time behind the wheel, that is why we decided to create the Justworx Daytona Rally. This way they get to enjoy six stress free days on the roads doing what they love.
