A rise in vehicle hijackings at the Buccleuch interchange has Sandton police concerned and has triggered a notice to the community to stay vigilant.

  • The amount of vehicles hijacked in the Buccleuch vicinity are on the increase.

The trend of these hijackings may not focus to the specific type or model of the vehicle but it is the opportunity that is advantageous to the criminals according to the incidents reported. Police records indicated that there is no specified times these incidents took place but most are reported during the day.

Should motorists experience problems with their vehicle, Sandton SAPS recommends not remaining inside of the vehicle but rather try and seek help as quickly as possible. The Sandton Times had reported earlier this year on concerns around an intersection in Rivonia, THIS SANDTON INTERSECTION HAS BECOME A HOT SPOT FOR CAR HIJACKING.

Sandton SAPS Station Commander urges members of the community to report any criminal activities or any suspicious vehicles in the area to CRIMESTOP 08600-10111 or Sandton SAPS 011-722-4200.
