The private screening of the new Universal TV series Wild Cards attracted a star-studded guest list, including notable names from South Africa’s entertainment and media industry.
Guests were treated to an exclusive preview of the opening episode of Wild Cards, a 10-part series that will officially premiere on Universal TV on 3 September 2024. The show, which will air every Tuesday until 29 October 2024, stars Vanessa Morgan, best known for her role in Riverdale, and Giacomo Gianniotti, famous for his work on Grey’s Anatomy.
In Wild Cards, Vanessa plays Max Mitchell, a cunning scammer who finds herself partnered with demoted detective Cole Ellis, portrayed by Giacomo. Together, they must solve a high-stakes crime, each motivated by their own personal goals—Ellis hopes to regain his detective status, while Max is determined to avoid jail time. The dynamic between the two leads, along with the show’s mix of humour and suspense, promises to make Wild Cards a hit with audiences.
In an ocean of content available on satellite and streaming, Wild Cards is an enchanting combination of a great storyline, entertaining performances, and a unique chemistry between the lead characters that sets the stage for a series that is sure to have you coming back for more. Following the preview screening, guests were invited to indulge in a sumptuous brunch. In keeping with the show’s themes, the brunch featured interactive elements that encouraged guests to tap into their inner detectives. Participants took part in problem-solving and detective games, with unique prizes up for grabs courtesy of Universal TV and DStv Rewards.
Starting on 3 September 2024, Wild Cards will air every Tuesday on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117), inviting viewers to join in the fun and suspense that this new series promises to serve-up.
