Twenty up-and-coming comedians from across the country will have just 5-minutes each to bring their best material to life, hoping to secure a nomination for the highly sought-after Savanna Newcomer Award. For comedy fans, this is the ultimate opportunity to witness the breakout stars of tomorrow.

With Tumi Morake at the helm, the night is set to be nothing short of legendary. Her razor-sharp humour and infectious energy will undoubtedly add an extra layer of magic to the showcase. And as a cherry on top, every ticket comes with a free Savanna on arrival – because nothing pairs better with laughter than an ice-cold drink.

The line-up is a vibrant mix of talent, each bringing a unique voice and perspective to the stage. Aiden Ho, for instance, merges his Chinese and South African heritage into hilarious and thought-provoking material. Chantal Harris proves that it’s never too late to reinvent yourself, starting her comedy journey at 55 and already making waves with her fearless humor. Jerry McSpanky, a 23-year-old actuarial analyst by day, has captivated audiences online, racking up millions of views with his sharp, relatable comedy. Khanyisile Ngwenya, a firecracker with an unbreakable spirit, takes the stage with a presence that lights up any room she enters.

Other highlights include Ngosa Kangwa, whose background in software development and Zambian roots inspire his sharp, analytical humor, and QuarterLeg De Comedian, a rising star from the Free State who has shared stages with some of South Africa’s comedy legends. Each performer brings something special, from unique storytelling to biting satire, ensuring an evening filled with diverse perspectives and laugh-out-loud moments.

To make the most of this incredible experience, plan to arrive at 4pm for pre-show drinks and mingling. The show kicks off promptly at 5pm, so be on time unless you want to find yourself at the receiving end of Tumi’s sharp tongue. After the performances, stick around to meet the comedians and celebrate a night well spent in the company of great talent.

For those eager to see who ultimately claims the coveted Savanna Newcomer Award, the Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards will take place on 12 April 2025 in Johannesburg. This is your chance to support the next generation of South African comedy and follow their journey to the top.

With limited tickets available, booking in advance on Quicket is a must to secure your spot.
