Since its debut in 2012 at Cape Town’s Old Biscuit Mill, The Pot Luck Club has been a trailblazer in small-plate dining, earning a devoted following with punchy, adventurous flavours and a buzzing atmosphere. The arrival of the Johannesburg edition marks a new chapter for The Peech Hotel, seamlessly blending creativity with the hotel’s tranquil, contemporary surrounds.

The Johannesburg space balances natural finishes with modern urban flair, offering guests a chic yet relaxed environment perfect for both indoor dining and meals beneath a canopy of trees.

This winter, both the Cape Town and Johannesburg locations are offering two exceptional prix fixe menus. The Prix Fixe Lite presents a six-plate sharing experience for two, ideal for a quick, flavour-packed lunch, while the Prix Fixe Loaded is an indulgent eight-plate sharing experience for two, perfect for a leisurely, flavour-rich outing.

The Sandton Times opted for the Prix Fixe Loaded, bringing some of the kitchen’s finest creations to the table. Highlights included Taco 2.0 with linefish ceviche, black bean purée, charred corn salsa, avocado and chipotle dressing; sashimi with grapefruit, spring onion, fragrant herbs, avocado, pickled ginger and dashi dressing; and crispy squid, a perfectly executed classic.

Roast pineapple in a fish sauce caramel with red curry, cashew nut, tamarind sambal and curry leaf impressed, as did the Pot Luck Club fish sliders, featuring hake with mojo dressing and miso mayo. The pork belly Penang with coconut and peanut broth, lime-pickled red onions and coriander oil, along with the smoked beef fillet with black pepper and truffle café au lait, were standout dishes.
