Sandton Sun unveiled its vibrant new updated menus across its dining experiences. This comprehensive revamp includes a delectable breakfast menu, an elevated banqueting menu, and a sophisticated San Deck menu.

 

The new menus showcase a range of dishes. New dishes include Jozi Benedict (two poached eggs, tomato, spicy beef mince, vetkoek smothered in hollandaise sauce) and a delectable savory French waffle dish that will be hard to forget.

 

Main courses feature delights such as vegetarian-friendly potato and butternut gnocchi, served with sage noisette and balsamic root vegetables. Seafood lovers can enjoy grilled sole with mussels beurre blanc, accompanied by a warm potato, cauliflower, and caper salad.

The San Deck Restaurant also boasts new menu items, designed for a fine dining experience with a range of exquisite dishes. Highlights include rich wine braised oxtail with creamy mashed potato, and a 300g Chalmar beef rib-eye, which is sure to satisfy meat enthusiasts.

 

End your meal on a sweet note with new dessert selections. Sticky toffee pudding, served with vanilla poached pear and dulce de leche ice cream promises a rich and indulgent conclusion to your dining experience.

Meet the Top 30 contestants vying for the title of Miss South Africa 2024. These remarkable women hail from eight of South Africa’s nine provinces, showcasing the diverse beauty and talent of the nation. Gauteng leads the field with 14 contestants, including two each from Tshwane and Soweto. KwaZulu-Natal has four representatives, the Eastern Cape and Mpumalanga each have three, while Limpopo and North West field two apiece. The Free State and Western Cape have one contestant each.

 

This year’s contestants are an impressive and diverse group, including graduates, teachers, models, businesswomen and entrepreneurs, a medical student, creatives, a choreographer, a prospective saxophonist, and a young woman with profound hearing loss. One contestant even made it to the Miss South Africa Top 3 in 2019.

 

Kaylan Zeelie, 21, originally from Uitenhage in the Eastern Cape, now proudly represents the province while living in Bloemfontein, Free State. She is pursuing an LLB at the University of the Free State. Kaylan prioritizes kindness, empathy, and active listening, guided by determination and loyalty. She finds immense joy in witnessing others thrive, a testament to her compassionate nature.

 

Sherry Wang, 29, from Sunninghill in Sandton, holds an honours degree in International Relations from the University of Witwatersrand and currently works as an HR manager. Describing herself as bold, easy-going, and attentive, Sherry aims to use her experience and knowledge, in collaboration with other organizations, to bridge the gap between circumstance and opportunity.

 

These 30 hopefuls bring a wealth of experience and a variety of perspectives to the competition, reflecting the rich cultural mosaic of South Africa. Their backgrounds and ambitions promise a compelling and inspiring contest as they vie for the coveted title of Miss South Africa 2024. Each contestant’s unique story and dedication to making a difference highlight the empowering spirit of this prestigious pageant.

Math Restaurant has opened at Waterfall Corner in greater Sandton. Having opened its doors in May 2024, Math offers more than just a dining experience—it’s a tribute to a rich history of entrepreneurship and community engagement that stretches back nearly 50 years.

 

Puleng Mathabatha, the owner of Math, draws inspiration from his parents’ thriving hardware store in Lebowakgomo. Math Electrical Hardware Store, established in 1974, was more than a business; it was the heart of the township and a place where the community gathered and shared stories. The name ‘Math,’ once a mystery to Puleng, represents the first four letters of his family’s surname, symbolizing the legacy that now drives his new venture.

 

The tagline, ‘When We Gather,’ further encapsulates the spirit of Math restaurant, inviting patrons to share in the nostalgia, inspiration, and culinary delight that defines this unique dining experience.

 

As for the menu, Math offers an exquisite fusion of tradition and innovation, with dishes inspired by Puleng’s own culinary journey. From comfort classics to daring experiments, each dish tells a story of journeys taken, memories cherished, and dreams fulfilled. This diverse menu caters to the modern African with a diverse palate. The menu is inspired by everything from the streets of New York City to the humble home-cooked favourites South Africans know and love.
