Sound of Freedom With Actor, TV Presenter And Missing Children South Africa Chairman Nico Panagio

Sound of Freedom, a box office hit based on a true story, shines a light on child trafficking. The film follows Tim Ballard, a former government agent, as he embarks on a daring mission to rescue children trapped in human trafficking. The movie stars Jim Caviezel, known for his role as Jesus in The Passion of the Christ. The film has gained unexpected success internationally and will release in South African cinemas on 18 August 2023.
Nico Panagio serves as the Chairman of Missing Children South Africa (MCSA), a Non-Profit and Public Benefit Organization. MCSA collaborates with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to address missing persons cases in the country, offering emergency response services, supporting families, and raising awareness about the issue.
MCSA’s goal is to assist in locating missing persons, especially within the crucial first 24 hours. They maintain a close partnership with SAPS, disseminate information through social media and other channels, and engage with schools to educate about abduction, trafficking, and kidnapping dangers.
Founded in 2007 after tragic cases of child kidnapping and murder, MCSA strives to ensure the safety of children and support families in distress. Their mission is to aid families and SAPS in missing persons cases, while their vision is to create a safer environment for all South African children.

Sound of Freedom Pay it Forward With Gravel Road Distribution Group CEO Benjamin Cowley
An international Pay it Forward campaign accompanies the Sound of Freedom release. Initially launched in the US, the campaign offers the first 50’000 tickets for free to South Africans who cannot afford cinema tickets, allowing them to watch the film at participating theatres. Donations can also be made to support the initiative. The goal is to encourage two million people to attend the film’s opening weekend, symbolizing the two million trafficked children worldwide.
The film’s distributor in South Africa, Gravel Road Distribution Group, has initiated the #PayItForwardAngels campaign. They aim to raise 10’000 tickets through donations from individuals and corporations. These tickets will not only cover the cost of admission but also transportation for underprivileged communities. Interested individuals can donate through the campaign’s website or use unique codes to claim free tickets for the film’s showings.
The Sound of Freedom Pay it Forward campaign operates by issuing unique voucher codes for free tickets, redeemable at select cinemas. The initiative has gained momentum, exceeding the initial goal and aiming to spread awareness about the pressing issue of child trafficking.
South African audiences wishing to pledge or participate in the #PayItForwardAngels campaign can go to the Gravel Road Africa website for more information on how to donate, or visit participating SterKinekor, Nu Metro and Cine Centre cinemas once the film releases on 18 August 2023, and scan the QR codes displayed in the cinema foyers (just look out for #PayItForwardAngels signage).
Then, those South Africans who cannot afford the price of a ticket, can also go to the Gravel Road Africa website to apply for a free ticket. The site generates a unique code per person which can be used to book a ticket online at SterKinekor cinemas, or on site at Nu Metro and Cine Centre cinemas.
