Dawie Roodt is a founder, Director and Chief Economist of the Efficient Group and is a well-known economist in South Africa with more than 30-years of expertise.

Dawie has a hands-on role in managing client asset portfolios. His knowledge of politics has increased, and so has his interest in both national and municipal politics. Dawie is one of the most often cited economists in South Africa and was honored with Media 24’s coveted Economist of the Year award. For the past 19 years, he has also served as the anchor presenter of the television program ONTBYTSAKE.

AUTO AND GENERAL CROSS TRIATHLON HOSTED BY STEYN CITY with Owner of Advendurance Fritz Pienaar

Sandton Times Hour
The swim takes the form of a double lap in Steyn City’s 300m lagoon, the cycle race route is laid out along the development’s 50km MTB track, and a portion of Steyn City’s 45km flood lit promenade has been set aside for the run. Image: Auto & General Cross Triathlon

Following an enormously successful inaugural event earlier this year, Steyn City will once again play host to the Auto & General Cross Triathlon on February 25, 2023.
With 2’000 acres of indigenous parkland and outstanding amenities – including the requisite facilities for a 600m swim, 35km cycle and 7km run – the award winning parkland residence is perfectly placed to host such an event.

While the Auto & General Cross Triathlon is an ideal challenge for serious solo athletes, the format of the event also allows for corporate entries. It’s also possible to enter as a team, with team members deciding which of the race legs (swim, run or cycle) they would like to complete. This means that you can take part in a discipline where you have a particular strength – like swimming, perhaps – while other team members give their all in the leg that best suits them.

What’s more, half distances have been added to this year’s event, making it possible to swim 300m, take part in a 20km offroad cycle and 3,5km run.

Entry details can be found on the Auto & General Cross Triathlon website.

40 YEARS TBWA\HUNT LASCARIS with Reg Lascaris

Sandton Times Hour
Since being established in 1983 by industry legends John Hunt and Reg Lascaris, the agency has established itself as the creative leader in this nation and on the continent, with many of its revolutionary campaigns having an impact on the entire world. Image: Reg Lascaris

This month marks the 40th anniversary of Hunt Lascaris, which served as the foundation for TBWA South Africa.

TBWA-Hunt Lascaris, which was founded on the simple tenet that life is too short to be average and with the goal of being the first top-tier advertising agency to emerge from Africa, is currently ranked first. As a whole, TBWA South Africa concurs with this statement. This accomplishment is largely attributable to the outstanding talent the organization has been able to draw in and develop throughout the years. Many of these distinctive people have gone on to run their own communication firms or agency both locally and internationally.

Having collaborated throughout its illustrious history with some of the most cutting-edge companies on the continent, TBWAHunt Lascaris has broken barriers and established new benchmarks. From well-known ads like the early BMW and Nando’s work to the more recent, internationally recognized “Blame no More” and MTN projects.

The goal has always been to produce daring work that resonates with audiences and produces outcomes.

MIDSTREAM ESTATE SOLAR PROJECT with Founder and Director of Bondev Jan Zeederberg

Sandton Times Hour
Midstream, a popular residential estate that offers a village lifestyle in the center of Gauteng, was founded in 2003. Image: Midstream

Midstream Estate is looking to reduce load-shedding stages by bringing in a large battery bank to store energy from solar plants and Eskom, in addition to an already large amount of generators installed throughout the development. This should provide an electricity buffer up to Stage 4 load-shedding.
