The event, facilitated by renowned journalist Leanne Manas, featured a panel of local experts who shared their experiences and insights under the theme of sustainable leadership. The panel included Joslin Lydall, a chemical engineer and co-founder of Catalyst Solutions; Candy Tothill Kruger, Corporate Affairs Management Consultant at Southern Sun; Happy MaKhumalo Ngidi, Chief Marketing Officer of Proudly SA; and Mapholo Ratau, founder of the fashion and lifestyle brand Ledikana.

 

These women, each a leader in her field, discussed critical topics such as citizenship, entrepreneurship, localisation, and the importance of environmental preservation. Joslin Lydall emphasized the importance of sustainability in leadership, particularly through environmental efforts like recycling.

The day was dedicated to celebrating the growing influence of women in leadership roles across diverse industries. Happy MaKhumalo Ngidi, Proudly SA’s CMO, shared her personal journey from intern to executive, highlighting the impact of creating opportunities for young women.

Mapholo Ratau, Founder of Ledikana, expressed her enthusiasm for Proudly SA’s commitment to promoting local businesses. Reflecting on her entrepreneurial journey, which began in her primary school days and has now reached its 11th year, Mapholo credited the buy local campaign with helping her connect with a wider clientele, contributing to her success.

 

The event concluded with an inspiring presentation by Ella Bella Leiti from Miss Earth, who shared her leadership journey and emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship.
