The Association of African Podcasters and Voice Artists (APVA) is a community-driven organization dedicated to discovering, amplifying, and celebrating African voice and audio creatives, including podcasters, voice artists, and spoken word performers. This year’s awards theme, ‘King of The Game,’ highlights the resilience, creativity, and leadership of African audio creatives.

Launched during the first week of the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, The Sandton Times Hour has consistently captivated audiences with its engaging content, insightful interviews, and thought-provoking discussions. The podcast features a dynamic mix of business leaders, authors, celebrities, and individuals with intriguing stories to tell.

Described by The Sunday Times as a seasoned communicator, Alexander Leibner has over 25 years of experience working with some of Africa’s leading media organizations, both in the spotlight and behind the scenes. A recipient of the President’s Award from late President Nelson Mandela and Prince Edward (Earl of Wessex), his career highlights include attending the Annual World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, and in Africa, organizing events with international celebrities Priyanka Chopra, Jordan ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ Belfort, and Naomi Campbell. Alexander is also a sought-after moderator, MC, and keynote speaker. In 2021, he was awarded the Dean’s Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity to study his executive MBA at Henley Business School Africa, which he completed in 2024.

 

As a nominee, The Sandton Times Hour is eligible to win an APVA Award, determined by online fan votes and scored by seasoned judges across the continent. Winners will be announced on 28 September 2024, ahead of International Podcast Day on 30 September 2024.
