Since Dutch-born entrepreneur Max Jong and Capetonian wellness expert Shelagh Wood acquired Palm House in mid-2023, they have reinvigorated its legacy with a keen eye for both beauty and comfort. While preserving the property’s historic character – think wood-panelled lobbies and a sweeping staircase lovingly restored – the duo oversaw a comprehensive renovation. The result is a timeless aesthetic that combines intricate herringbone flooring, refined chandeliers, bespoke wallpaper, and curated artworks.
