HONOR hosted an exclusive launch event unveiling the devices to a host of media, stakeholders, and friends of the brand in Sandton. Whilst the welcome canapes were few, the launch featured everything but the kitchen sink, ticking the South African sprinkled marketing box without exception, from a Chinese South African dance opening with festive dragons, a collaboration with a local fashion designer, a magazine cover partnership, announcement of a sponsorship of a local football team, support for a youth empowerment project, local opera singers singing Itaglish, a fashion show, traditional performers dancing to Johnny Clegg and well stocked bars.

A key highlight of the event, in-between the assemblage of announcements, was the product briefing, where HONOR detailed what sets the HONOR 200 Series apart from competitors. The series’ standout feature is its collaboration with Studio Harcourt, a Parisian portrait photography house renowned for its black-and-white portraits of stars. Together, they co-engineered the HONOR AI Portrait Engine. This innovative mode leverages HONOR’s AI technology to emulate Studio Harcourt’s iconic lighting and shadow effects, transforming a 2-hour photo-shoot process into a few simple steps.

The flagship model, the HONOR 200 Pro, is equipped with advanced hardware and AI-powered software capable of recognizing the subtlest nuances of lighting. It features a 50MP Portrait Main Camera with a Super Dynamic H9000 Sensor, allowing users to capture crystal-clear images with the perfect balance of light and shadows. The device also includes a 50MP Portrait Telephoto Camera with a customized Sony telephoto sensor, ensuring even the tiniest details are captured on distant objects.

Attendees had the opportunity to experience the product first-hand through an interactive showcase featuring large photo booths and device stations. This allowed them to witness the impressive studio-level capabilities of the devices up close.
