Alto234: Celebrating 2-Years Of Elevating The Sandton Experience

In a city known for its vibrant energy and sweeping skyline, a destination emerged in early September 2021, capturing the essence of greater Sandton from the highest urban perch in Africa: Alto234.

  • Perched atop The Leonardo in Sandton, Alto234 offers an experience of the city like never before.
  • Offering 360-degree views of the lush, wooded landscape that defines this metropolis.
  • The name Alto234 draws its inspiration from the Latin word for “height” (Alto) and the precise altitude at which it stands, a lofty 234 meters above ground level.

Alto234 has become a place where you can savor late afternoon sundowners or indulge in a romantic glass of Moët & Chandon champagne while taking in the awe-inspiring vistas. This exclusive establishment set a new standard for panoramic splendor in South Africa. Alto234 is open from Tuesday to Sunday, and has quickly become one of the most coveted and exclusive places in South Africa, for both locals and internationals alike.

The journey to Alto234’s creation was an extraordinary one. Initially conceived as a rooftop featuring a large photovoltaic panel, it evolved into a multi-use platform under the visionary guidance of Bart Dorrestein (Legacy Group CEO) and Jamie Hendry (Legacy Group Director). The rooftop’s breathtaking views, stretching from the Magaliesberg mountain range to the Voortrekker Monument, the former home of Nelson Mandela, and OR Tambo International Airport, compelled them to share this exceptional space with the world.

To mark its second birthday, Alto234 is hosting celebrations on 17 September 2023 and 24 September 2023. For just R370 per person, guests can partake in an afternoon of festivities from 12-noon to 6pm. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a complimentary glass of bubbles, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. Live music by Will Rayz will serenade guests, creating an ambiance of celebration and joy.
