Vaagh Brings A Blend Of Dining And Entertainment To Sandton

In October last year, Vaagh opened its doors in Benmore, bringing a fresh take on dining and entertainment to Sandton.

  • Nestled in Parkmore, the restaurant offers a carefully curated menu alongside live performances.
  • Taking over the space formerly occupied by Rodeo Bar & Grill, Vaagh aims to introduce an international-style dinner and entertainment concept to the area.
  • The venue features a restaurant complete with an upstairs lounge for those looking to extend their evening.

The Sandton Times attended the launch event alongside VIP guests and media, experiencing a three-course dinner paired with a variety of performances, including dancers engaging with diners and creative body art displays. Originally starting in Strubens Valley, the Vaagh expansion to Sandton felt like a natural progression.

Each night, Vaagh Sandton blends dining with live music and choreographed dance routines. The menu, crafted by Chef Nas, blends classic flavours with modern culinary techniques, offering dishes made from high-quality ingredients that cater to both traditional and contemporary tastes. The drinks selection is equally considered, featuring a range of artisanal cocktails and curated wines, with staff on hand to recommend the best pairings.

Signature dishes like the Asian Sticky Lamb Ribs, chargrilled to perfection in a soy and honey spice marinade, and the rich, creamy Butter Chicken curry, best enjoyed with a robust Shiraz, highlight the diverse influences at play. Image: Vaagh

From the fiery kick of Chilli Bites paired with a crisp Sauvignon Blanc to the indulgent crunch of Tempura Batter Haloumi complemented by a glass of Chardonnay, the menu is designed to entice the palate. Seafood lovers can savour Panko Crispy Calamari with a refreshing Prosecco, while meat enthusiasts will relish the Tomahawk Steak, grilled to perfection and best paired with a bold Pinotage. Whether indulging in a traditional Bunny Chow, a fragrant Lamb Curry, or a contemporary Halloumi Tower, each dish is enhanced by a suggested wine pairing.

As the evening progresses, the space transitions into a late-night lounge, offering a setting for guests to socialise. The menu showcases premium ingredients, including aged Studex Wagyu, Persian Royal lamb skewers, and delicate desserts like Pistachio Dream Chocolate. There’s also a selection of caviar, sustainably sourced seafood, and expertly crafted sushi, alongside an extensive wine list, premium cognacs, and whiskeys.

The restaurant’s design features a large LED screen displaying ambient visuals, with gold and black furnishings complemented by a striking marble wall. By 10pm, the space transitions into a lounge with theatrical elements, creating a different kind of experience as the night unfolds. Upstairs, the lounge area offers a more energetic atmosphere, featuring a live DJ, bottle service, and themed entertainment.

Since opening, Vaagh has managed to draw praise online for its atmosphere, fine dining, and dedicated team, making it a popular pick for special occasions. The sushi and duck dishes have garnered special mentions.

Vaagh Sandton brings a mix of dining, entertainment, and nightlife to the area, setting itself apart with its food, music, and unique offering.
