The US government has received information that terrorists may be planning to conduct an attack targeting large gatherings of people at an unspecified location in the greater Sandton area of Johannesburg, South Africa, on 29 October 2022. Africa’s richest square mile has of late seen a return to its old self, with this weekend seeing a number of major events taking place, including WineX at the Sandton Concention Centre and Johannesburg Pride, which includes a march through the streets of Sandton Central. It is still to be determined if any of these gatherings are intended to be “the target”.
