You read it here first…popular dining and drinks destination The Greenhouse Bar is packing up its garden and moving out of Rosebank to a bigger space at 24 Central in the heart of Sandton.


  • The Greenhouse Bar opened in late 2019 and has been synonymous with an energetic atmosphere.

Vibe seekers rejoice, The Greenhouse Bar is coming back bigger, better, and greener than ever! The new space will offer more socially distanced outdoor seating, accommodate louder music and once the COVID-19 curfew is lifted, will be able to remain open till 2 am, making it an even more suitable destination for epic nights out.

And The Greenhouse Bar menu is coming along for the move! Featuring delicious modern tapas, inspired cocktails, live music from top SA musos, and DJs in a beautifully lush, plant-rich setting, the new space promises to deliver in the same vein.


Diners can expect some exciting changes to the interiors by designer Tristan Du Plessis, a renewed focus on abundant greenery, including Greenhouse’s signature hanging plant ceiling, will be backed by vibrant wallpaper and accentuated with pops of mustard yellow, contrasting with natural wood and jade-colored marble.

The Greenhouse Bar favourites, such as the signature sushi, will still be on offer but the menu will also now include a selection of new grilled dishes, including vegetarian dishes; whole grilled aubergines, drizzled with olive oil and tzatziki as well as fresh salmon steak served with chargrilled broccolini. There will also be some new intriguing variations on their fresh oyster offerings, such as a smoke-infused execution.

When I think of South Africa I’m instantly drawn to the taste and smell of cooking on an open flame. The updated Greenhouse menu will draw on that authentic nostalgia.
