Guests gathered at the Sandton Convention Centre under the thematic banner of “Bringing New York to You!” The venue was set to evoke the vibrant spirit of New York City, combined with the energy and style of Johannesburg’s fashion scene. The audience, comprising fashion insiders, influencers, and media personalities, was invited to arrive in attire that embodied “High Shine, Glitz and Glam, Studs and Spikes” – a dress code that set the tone for a night of bold, unapologetic style.

The choice of Gert Johan Coetzee as Creative Director was also a bold move. This collection was curated to offer versatility, encompassing both men’s and women’s pieces that ranged from couture-inspired looks to urban streetwear. Tumelo Mmusi, Steve Madden’s Marketing Lead, expressed genuine enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing how it aligned with the brand’s evolving vision.

As we continue to grow our apparel offering, our approach is to give our designs a touch of African influence and bring them close to the people who make us who we are. It’s been a pleasure collaborating with Gert Johan Coetzee, and I’m excited to see everything come to life.

The collaboration was a natural step in Steve Madden’s evolution, deepening the brand’s connection with South African culture and the local fashion community. Entertainment for the night featured DJ Oscar Mbo alongside some of South Africa’s trendiest artists, creating an unforgettable experience that blended fashion, music, and culture. The soundtrack and vibe were deliberately chosen to reflect the collection’s urban roots and high-fashion aspirations, ensuring that the audience was fully immersed in the energy of the brand.

The range is iconic and street cool. We aimed to cover looks for almost every occasion, ensuring that every detail had a touch of my signature, from the coluorways to the patterns.
