Infamous JOHANNESBURG ARSONIST Arrested With Founder And CEO Of eBlockwatch Andre Snyman
This past week, a suspect, believed to be the infamous Johannesburg arsonist who had terrorised residents in the Northern Suburbs of Johannesburg for the last year, had finally been caught and taken into custody.
Acting on a tip off, a specialist tactical operation was launched by the South African Police Services Serious & Violent Crimes Gauteng Operations team, assisted by SAPS Counter Intelligence Investigations Head Office; SAPS JHB K9 division, members of Fidelity’s Specialised Services unit and CAP Security.
The suspect was located walking on foot in Emmarentia. The teams were able to expertly detain and arrest the suspect. Fortunately, there were no shots fired and no injuries to report.
The suspect is in custody at the designated SAPS station. Wahl Bartmann, CEO of Fidelity Services Group said the arsonist had been at large for almost the last 24 months. Fires at homes in the Bryanston, Houghton, Dunkeld, Illovo, Hydepark and surrounding areas have all been linked to this alleged arsonist.
In April this year, Fidelity offered a R100’000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the alleged arsonist and instituted a tip off line for anyone that had information relating to these events.
