67 Blankets Rainbow Nation Blanket of Hope with Carolyn Steyn
The gigantic Rainbow Nation Blanket of Hope is laid out in Johannesburg as part of the 67 Blankets for Nelson Mandela Day initiative this week, whose founder, Carolyn Steyn, was recently honoured with the French National Order of Merit.

“KnitWits” around the country have been busy knitting and crocheting up a storm ahead of May 11, when the massive, colourful “combined” blanket will be laid out at Steyn City School, symbolising the resilience and irrepressible spirit of the South African people during a difficult two years of Covid-19 and lockdowns.

Humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers will then distribute the individual blankets to people in need ahead of what is expected to be a bitterly cold winter, giving small but meaningful tokens of hope to the rainbow nation.

At the end of March, Steyn, its founder, and champion, was awarded the Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite (Knight of the French National Order of Merit) by the French ambassador to South Africa, Aurélien Lechevalier, for her contribution to the deepening of cultural ties between France and South Africa. Her dedication to improving the lives of others, in the form of her cherished 67 Blankets initiative, was also recognised.

Pegasus Vertical Business Jet with Dr. Reza Mia
Conceptualized and developed by avid aeronautics scholar and one of South Africa’s most renowned practitioners in the field of aesthetic medicine, Dr. Reza Mia, the Pegasus Vertical Business Jet (VBJ) takes to the skies in the Hollywood blockbuster movie “The Lost City”.

Released by Paramount Films, “The Lost City” is a breathless action-packed jungle adventure along the lines of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”, “Romancing the Stone” and “Jumanji” and features an all star-studded cast including Academy and Golden Globe winner Sandra Bullock (Speed, Miss Congeniality, Bird Box), Brad Pitt (Thelma & Louise, Fight Club, Ocean`s Eleven), Channing Tatum (The Hateful Eight, Magic Mike) and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter).

The Pegasus Vertical Business Jet project has primarily been self-funded since its inception. However, excited by the potential of the VBJ, additional investment has also come from both South African and international business investors. The investment portfolio is being expanded in April to include another round of public share sales to coincide with the release of the film in South Africa.
