In a display of community collaboration, Sandton-based Gold’s Gym has joined forces with the Education Outreach Foundation to support digital literacy and education access across South Africa.

As the only Gold’s Gym in the country, the Sandton flagship has committed to hosting monthly fundraisers throughout 2025, with all proceeds going directly to the Foundation’s mission of empowering under-served communities through education. From workout classes to unique fitness challenges, each activation will combine physical strength with a greater social impact.

One of the challenges to date has been the “Deadlift and Donate” campaign. Participants were encouraged to deadlift and then donate the equivalent amount (in Rands) of their lifted weight to the Foundation – a fun, meaningful way to turn reps into resources for schools in need.

Tourism Following The Trump X Ramaphosa Meeting With National Chairperson Of FEDHASA Rosemary Anderson

FEDHASA emphasised that millions of visitors travel through the country every year, enjoying exceptional hospitality experiences without incident. Image: FEDHASA

The Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa (FEDHASA) has reiterated that the country’s accommodation, restaurant, and broader hospitality sectors continue to provide safe and welcoming environments for both domestic and international travellers. This reassurance comes in the wake of a high-profile meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, which brought global attention to South Africa.

South Africa’s hospitality industry operates under stringent health and safety protocols developed over many years in collaboration with government agencies and private sector partners. From boutique guesthouses to internationally recognised hotel brands, establishments across the country adhere to high standards of service and security that give guests peace of mind.

Despite national challenges around crime, South Africa’s tourism infrastructure has been shaped to ensure guest safety. Accommodation providers utilise advanced security systems, while visible policing in key tourism zones and access to real-time emergency support platforms enhance protection. Accredited establishments also invest in continuous staff training focused on both prevention and emergency response.

The hospitality industry prides itself on building professionalism into every layer of the guest experience. From front desk personnel capable of managing concerns swiftly to housekeeping staff trained to prioritise guest wellbeing, the focus remains firmly on delivering seamless service.

Whether visitors are sipping sundowners with views of Table Mountain or enjoying breakfast in the Drakensberg, they are met with a spirit of resilience and warmth that defines South Africa’s tourism offering. Backed by world-class hospitality standards, the sector remains committed to providing memorable and secure experiences for every traveller.

Bedfordview is lighting up with two brilliant reasons to visit: the Neon Glow Mini Golf pop-up and NuMetro’s brand-new VIP cinema experience, both located at Bedford Centre and Bedford Square.

The Neon Glow Mini Golf is a family-friendly indoor activity where glowing outfits and laughter are practically mandatory. Under ultraviolet lights, players navigate a creatively challenging course filled with ramps, twists, and vibrant visuals. Whether you’re a putting pro or haven’t played since the 1800s, the atmosphere is electric and the fun, infectious. At just R50 per person, it’s a budget-friendly adventure perfect for winter—and it won’t be around forever, so best to tee off soon!

Across the road at Bedford Square, NuMetro’s all-VIP cinema complex brings an entirely different kind of glow. Think plush reclining seats, gourmet snacks, cocktails, and a boutique atmosphere with only five theatres, making every screening feel exclusive. Together, these two experiences offer a glowing combo of entertainment in Bedfordview – proof that stepping outside the Sandton bubble can deliver serious fun and luxurious comfort, all in one night out.
