Fourways Mall Turnaround With Flanagan & Gerard Managing Director Paul Gerard
Fourways Mall, South Africa’s largest shopping destination, continues to boost its transformation with strategic enhancements and new retail experiences. As the mall evolves, recent upgrades and the addition of new retail brands position it as a premier shopping hub for Johannesburg and beyond.
With the appointment of Flanagan & Gerard Group as asset managers and Moolman Group as property managers, Fourways Mall is focused on redefining its retail landscape. The mall’s growth is further supported by cutting-edge technology and customer-centered improvements, setting the stage for a world-class shopping experience.
Over the last six months, Fourways Mall has introduced 9,642m² of new retail space, alongside approximately 20,000m² of lease renewals. To put this into perspective, this expansion equates to the size of 148 padel courts. New tenants include popular brands like Yokico, Legends Barber, Boa Beauty, Valora Jewellery, and Incredible Connection, showcasing the mall’s appeal as a retail powerhouse.
Upcoming additions in 2024 include iconic names such as Le Creuset Factory to Table, Converse, Polo Sport, Carrol Boyes, and Uniq. These developments are poised to enhance the shopping experience, offering a diverse mix of lifestyle, fashion, and homeware brands. Planet Fitness and other high-profile tenants are set to join in 2025.
Beyond expanding its retail offerings, Fourways Mall is also upgrading infrastructure. Recent improvements include energy-efficient lighting across all parking levels, ensuring brighter, safer environments. The mall’s food court and delivery areas have also seen lighting upgrades, enhancing the overall atmosphere. A significant upgrade is the introduction of the admyt ticketless parking system, launched in August. This system uses license plate recognition and smartphone technology to streamline parking, reducing congestion and eliminating the need for paper tickets.
Additional upgrades include a revamped northern parking deck, featuring four traffic lanes for smoother entry and exit. Enhanced lighting, clear signage, and color-coded parking levels simplify navigation and ensure an enjoyable shopping experience. Free Wi-Fi and a newly launched VIP parking area further elevate visitor convenience.

International Cap Classique Day With Graham Beck Cellermaster Pierre de Klerk
Graham Beck’s unwavering pursuit of the perfect bubble is rooted in its commitment to quality, distinction, and time-honoured traditions. Renowned for crafting sparkling wines with sophistication and consistency, the winery adheres to the methods of Méthode Cap Classique. Every step in the winemaking process reflects Graham Beck’s passion, resulting in exceptional bubbly that is celebrated globally for its elegance and versatility.
The Classic Collection epitomizes Graham Beck’s signature style, blending Chardonnay and Pinot Noir to create a non-vintage selection that remains timeless and consistent. Wines such as Brut, Bliss Demi-Sec, and Brut Rosé are carefully crafted to cleanse the palate and stimulate the senses. Known for their aperitif qualities, these sparkling wines are designed to introduce wine lovers to the complexities of Cap Classique and set the stage for the more refined offerings in the portfolio.
The Vintage Collection showcases the best harvests from a single year, highlighting the unique characteristics of each vintage. This range includes Blanc de Blancs, Brut Rosé, and the exceptional Brut Zero. Each bottle reflects the finest expression of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from that particular year. The Brut Zero, crafted in extraordinary vintages, stands out for its extended lees contact, compensating for the lack of dosage and delivering remarkable depth and complexity.
At the pinnacle of Graham Beck’s portfolio lies the Prestige Collection, with the renowned Cuvée Clive taking center stage. This ultra-premium Cap Classique sparkling wine is crafted from a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, produced only in exceptional vintages and in limited quantities. Made from the highest quality juice through an ultra-gentle whole-bunch pressing process, Cuvée Clive exemplifies elegance, finesse, and complexity. Its global reputation even caught the eye of fictional super-spy James Bond, who favours it in the novel Carte Blanche.
The exclusive Artisan Collection features the Yin & Yang duo, two premium blends that highlight the complementary relationship between Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Yin, composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, offers complexity and structure, while Yang, with the reverse blend, focuses on elegance and finesse. These wines showcase how contrasting elements can harmonize beautifully in a single bottle.
In addition to the renowned Chardonnay and Pinot Noir blends, Graham Beck has also embraced Pinot Meunier, a key varietal in traditional sparkling wine production. As a mutation of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier is prized for its ability to add depth and complexity to Cap Classique wines. Originally planted in the Cape in 1994, Pinot Meunier has become a vital component in creating Graham Beck’s distinctive, terroir-driven sparkling wines, further enhancing the winery’s reputation for excellence.

‘Outside Lane’ With Swimming Coach Rocco Meiring
Every four years, the world comes together to witness the extraordinary feats of the Olympic Games. For the athletes, the journey to the Games is a lifetime of dedication, hard work, and sacrifice. This is the story at the heart of Outside Lane, a four-part documentary that follows four South African swimmers as they prepare for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The series offers an inside look at what it takes to compete at the highest levels of the sport.
Produced by Idea Candy, the creators behind School Ties, Steinheist, and Devilsdorp, Outside Lane gives viewers a front-row seat to the intense training, personal sacrifices, and mental fortitude required to succeed in a sport where South Africa has shone brightly since its readmission to the Olympics.
The series focuses on four swimmers – Kaylene Corbett, Pieter Coetzé, Erin Gallagher, and Matthew Sates – who are vying for a chance to make their mark in Paris 2024. While they aren’t yet household names like South Africa’s Olympic legends Penny Heyns, Ryk Neethling, and Chad le Clos, Outside Lane showcases their journey as they aim to join these greats in the annals of South African sports history.
Behind these rising stars is Rocco Meiring, the head coach of Tuks Swimming at the University of Pretoria. Known as one of the world’s most strategic coaches, Rocco has developed generations of South African swimming talent, creating what is often referred to as South Africa’s “Pool of Gold.”
Despite the challenges, South African swimmers have consistently punched above their weight. Since readmission to the Olympics, 16 out of the country’s 37 Olympic medals have been won in the pool, accounting for 22% of all their medals. Outside Lane offers more than just a look at athletic prowess—it gives viewers a glimpse into the personal struggles, camaraderie, and triumphs that come with being an Olympic hopeful. Through self-filmed videos from the athletes and intimate interviews, viewers experience the roller-coaster of emotions that accompany the road to Paris.
The documentary also shines a spotlight on the rich tradition of South African swimming and how, despite facing fewer resources than their international competitors, the country continues to produce world-class talent. For those who missed the live broadcast, the series is available on DStv Catch Up and DStv Stream. Don’t miss this compelling look at South Africa’s next generation of Olympic swimmers as they strive for greatness.
