Construction has officially begun on Olympus Sandton, a flagship R1.2-billion residential development that promises to transform the skyline of Sandton once more. The project, a partnership between property developer Tricolt Group and Growthpoint Properties, has already captured the attention of the market, with 420 of the 529 units sold and R1.2-billion in sales secured within eight months of its launch. This notable uptake positions Olympus Sandton as one of the fastest-selling residential developments in the area’s recent history.

Perched at the highest point in the emerging Sandton Summit Precinct, next to LXX Sandhurst, the development offers unparalleled 360-degree views across Johannesburg. The precinct itself has been a decade-long vision for Growthpoint Properties, aimed at creating a walkable, live-work-play environment anchored by the Discovery head office.

Designed in collaboration by Australian firm ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects and local firm DHK, the twin towers of Olympus Sandton feature an alternating twist geometry that creates a dynamic rhythm across the skyline and optimises views for every resident.

The site’s position on the ridge places Olympus Sandton at the literal and figurative pinnacle of Sandton. As you crest the rise into Sandton, the towers appear sculptural and dynamic, a striking entry point into the city.

Growthpoint Properties highlighted the strategic importance of Olympus within its broader Sandton Summit vision.

As South Africa’s cosmopolitan business capital, Sandton is undergoing a revival and Olympus Sandton is rising with it. Accelerated by strong sales, this development reflects our strategy to unlock prime value through market-aligned, mixed-use spaces where people want to live, work, and connect.

The development has already achieved record-breaking sales. During its February 2025 launch, Olympus Sandton secured R1-billion in just four days, with the penthouse in Tower 1 selling for a base price of R40-million and an estimated fully upgraded value of R44.45-million. Buyer demographics indicate 70% local and 30% international, with 75% of units purchased by investors and the remaining 25% by owner-occupiers. Tricolt attributes the strong uptake to repeat buyers, many of whom committed to units prior to visiting the site.

The accelerated sales prompted a decision to fast-track construction, with both towers being built simultaneously rather than in phases. This approach aims to offer residents access to full amenities from day one. Among the highlights will be a premium culinary and retail offering on the 18th floor, boasting sweeping panoramic views of Sandton. The podium level will activate the street edge with lush sky gardens, a resort-style pool deck, a cocktail lounge, and a fully equipped gym, offering residents a unique lifestyle experience.

Construction is expected to take approximately 26 months, with completion projected for early 2028.
