With only hours to go to the crowning of Miss South Africa 2021, Cape Town is gearing up for a hybrid event packed with glamour, glitz, and global participation.
Performing in the show are the Ndlovu Youth Choir which took the US by storm when they became the first choir in the history of America’s Got Talent to make the finals; award-winning gospel singer Ntokozo Mbambo and singer and record producer Zakes Bantwini. Miss South Africa is also set to make history when the reigning titleholders of Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational attend the dazzling pageant finale on Saturday.
Miss World Toni-Ann Singh of Jamaica will join Miss Supranational Chanique Rabe of Namibia and Miss Universe Andrea Meza of Mexico when Miss South Africa 2021 is crowned at the Grand Arena, GrandWest in Cape Town. This year’s Miss South Africa will be a show to remember with Miss Universe titleholders, 2018 winner Catriona Gray and her 2019 successor, our own Zozibini Tunzi, presenting from backstage.
The all-women selection panel line-up includes respected and influential personalities with reigning Miss Universe Andrea Meza joined by Miss Universe 2015, TV personality, model and actress Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach; former Miss South Africa title holders Basetsana Kumalo (1994) and Tamaryn Green (2018); actress Shannon Esra (The Queen); vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town Mamokgethi Phakeng and radio and TV presenter Dineo Ranaka.
Again this year, the top three finalists will represent South Africa at the world’s three most prestigious pageants – Miss World, Miss Universe, and Miss Supranational. Only in the days after Miss South Africa 2021 is crowned and the other top two are announced, will the Miss South Africa Organisation decide which candidate would do the best at which competition.
