More than six years ago, Sandton based Africa Business News (ABN) launched its dedicated events division ABN Event Productions, bringing CNBC Africa and Forbes Africa aligned events to the continent, attracting the highest caliber of participants and attendees from both public and private sector, fortifying its position as not only South Africa’s, but Africa’s leading producer of business and first-class event experiences.

Further to this, ABN Event Productions has chartered an aggressive growth strategy, welcoming new team members Vianca Chinsamy, Alice Maile and Nazia Haroon to the fold, to further grow its now far-reaching events portfolio and service its list of top-tier clients eventing needs, with a great offering.

“We’ve enjoyed an amazing editorial partnership with both Forbes Africa and CNBC Africa for more than half a decade, bringing unsurpassed networking, market leading content and unrivaled access to some of the most powerful people in Africa, to Africa and Europe.”

Some of the most notable speakers and guests, ABN Event Productions has had the privilege of hosting include Rwandan President Paul Kagame, South African Minister of Finance Pravin Gordhan, Gauteng Premier David Makhura, Former Public Protector of South Africa Thuli Madonsela and Minister of Health of South Africa Aaron Motsoaledi, along with hundreds of CEO’s and business leaders from across the continent.

Our unmatched event offering, aligned to the sexiest business media brands in Africa, gives our clients the opportunity of associating their brands to existing events or tailor-making their own pioneering experiences.”

Engaging with global business leaders at the World Economic Forum, hosting 20 top CEO’s for an intimate strategic lunch in the Magaliesberg, discussing the Future of Health in two different countries or managing a Gala event with both international and local celebrities is not ordinary for most event companies, but for ABN Event Productions, the second quarter of 2017 showcased the teams unyielding skill in executing first-class events, both intimate and bold in nature.

“We successfully executed a range of top-tier events with 11 clients across 4 countries, in 5 cities with over 1500 guests during our second quarter.”

– Head of ABN Event Productions, Alexander Leibner

Alongside the 27th World Economic Forum on Africa, ABN Event Productions staged three stakeholder breakfasts for clients Siemens, DBSA and SES. The events featured a high-level television panel discussion of C-Suite leaders, including Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister, Dr Siyabonga Cele, which was broadcast live on CNBC Africa across the continent, both via satellite and online, with a live audience and integrated networking element. Once again, ABN Event Productions staged the must-attend CNBC Africa Nightcap with partners Thomson Reuters, SES and Heineken, creating a premium networking cocktail for WEF Africa delegates, with world-class entertainment by Ryan the DJ and Kyle Deutsch. Hosted at Durban Venue ‘California Dreaming’, the team transformed the double-storey venue, which hosted guests well into the early hours of the morning.

“These bespoke breakfasts offer clients a unique opportunity to host a focused conversation alongside a major event like the World Economic Forum, bringing together key stakeholders from both public and private sector. The focused networking opportunities, combined with the amplification of the sector-specific discussion across television and online, offers multiple, layered exposure points and unmatched ROI.”

To finish the week on a high, ABN Event Productions was brought in to manage the first UNICEF South Africa Fundraising Gala end-to-end, hosted by Global Goodwill Ambassador and international star, Priyanka Chopra in Johannesburg. The glamorous event treated guests to a 3-course dinner designed by Executive Chef Andrew Atkinson of the Hyatt Rosebank, a fashion show by Gavin Rajah, performances by lead singer of Malaika, Tshedi Mholo, with Zandie Khumalo and Zakes Madida giving audiences a rendition of their latest hit singles. The ever beautiful host for the evening was South African Jo-Ann Strauss.

The event raised much needed funds for UNICEF South Africa projects through a charity auction featuring local auctioneer, Gift Ngwenya, who brought his unique blend of humour and sales skills to the evening. The fruitful evening would not have been possible if it were not for the unmatched support of IBV Gold, Wings Travel, SAA, Video Vision Entertainment, Candy & Co., Être Belle Cosmetics, Graham Beck, Vana by Vanashree Singh, The Westin Cape Town, Akshar Choudree, Ryan Trust, The South African Red Cross Society, Carol Bouwer Productions, Preeti S Kapoor, Philippe Wagenführer and BMW.

ABN Event Productions has had a strong business events focus over the years and this strength shone during the CEO Forum powered by CNBC Africa and Jaguar Land Rover, which brought together 20 South African CEO’s from a variety of industries, in the Magaliesberg for an afternoon of high powered speakers, networking and fine-dining. Attendees were chauffeur driven to De Hoek for an intimate, closed gathering, unpacking business challenges and national issues with three of South Africa’s most knowledgeable speakers from academia, business and literature.

ABN Event Productions also produced two editions of the growing Future of Health Summit in association with Forbes Africa and Philips Africa. The two events hosted in Nairobi and Johannesburg brought together healthcare thought leaders, public and private heads, alongside media, to discuss current challenges and future opportunities when looking at Africa’s healthcare needs. The Johannesburg edition of the event, thanks to Delta, welcomed international author and futurist Jack Uldrich, who shared his projections of major healthcare innovation leading up to 2025 and beyond.

Africa Business News (ABN) will also be celebrating Forbes’s 100th Anniversary in September.
