GALXBOY Launches Flagship Store In Sandton City

South African streetwear powerhouse GALXBOY has just added a bold new chapter to its ever-evolving story.

  • The iconic youth-driven brand officially opened its doors to its newest – and arguably most prestigious – retail location in the heart of Sandton.
  • The brand has evolved from underground rebellion to mainstream recognition, from the pavements of Johannesburg to the glitz corridors of Sandton City.
  • This flagship store isn’t just another brick-and-mortar outlet – it marks a significant moment in the brand’s journey.
  • Visit www.sandtontimes.co.za for more stories.

GALXBOY, the brainchild of founder and head designer Thatiso Dube, was created in 2008 with a clear vision – to craft fashion by the youth, for the youth.

In 2008, I saw a gap in the market. There was no brand that spoke directly to us—South African youth who were smart, ambitious, African, and wanted to wear that identity proudly.

And so GALXBOY was born – a streetwear brand rooted in defiance and designed to reflect the ever-evolving language of South African youth culture. It began with a provocative slogan on a T-shirt. Today, it’s a continental lifestyle movement. The new store in Sandton City, the economic heartbeat of South Africa, is the brand’s 14th location nationwide, and perhaps its most symbolic. Sandton – often referred to as “Africa’s richest square mile” – is home to luxury labels, top corporates, and a global clientele.

We’re not just opening another store in another mall. We’re creating a cultural destination, a space where fashion, identity, and ambition all collide. GALXBOY has always stood for owning your truth, and what better place to do that than the heart of Joburg’s innovation and business scene?

The new store reflects the brand’s bold design language – clean lines, edgy visual merchandising, and an atmosphere that pays homage to the gritty, vibrant pulse of Johannesburg’s streets. Shoppers can expect to find GALXBOY’s full collection on display: from its signature graphic tees and luxurious hoodies to standout accessories, jewellery, and limited-edition drops that often sell out within hours.

But beyond the threads, GALXBOY’s Sandton store represents a larger movement. It’s a space that blurs the lines between street culture and high fashion, hustle and heritage, rebellion and recognition. Since its inception, GALXBOY has garnered a fiercely loyal following, with fans ranging from high schoolers and university creatives to influencers, artists, and even international admirers.

This new opening is also a testament to GALXBOY’s strong business acumen. With locations already established in Cape Town, Durban, Pretoria, Bloemfontein, Rustenburg, Polokwane, Mbombela, and Gqeberha, the brand has steadily expanded its footprint while staying true to its identity. While each store carries the unmistakable GALXBOY DNA, the Sandton flagship takes things up a notch – designed to be more than just a shopping experience. It’s a platform for self-expression, collaboration, and innovation.

We’ve always believed in the power of youth culture to shape the future. This store is proof that you can start small, stay authentic, and still take over spaces that once felt unreachable.

So whether you’re a die-hard streetwear fan, a curious first-timer, or someone looking to experience the pulse of Joburg’s youth culture up close, the new GALXBOY store is where ambition meets attitude – on full display in the centre of the country’s most dynamic district.
