FlySafair and Suzuki teamed up for an adventure-filled event, placing exploration front and centre, to announce their latest competition.

The Sandton Times joined a handpicked group of content creators for a two-day race from Gqeberha to George, to experience the new Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in a treasure hunt style format.

The journey began early on a Wednesday morning at the FlySafair headquarters for a tour of the airlines offices as well as the maintenance fascility. This exclusive behind-the-scenes experience provided insight into FlySafair’s operations and first-hand look at what goes into keeping aircraft flight ready. We then headed to OR Tambo International airport, where we checked in for a flight to Gqeberha where we would regroup at Suzuki Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) for a team briefing.

The excitement intensified as we arrived at Suzuki Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), where we were greeted with refreshments and an activity briefing. The main event of the day was a scenic route drive from Gqeberha to Knysna in a Suzuki Jimny 5-Door. This drive, packed with activities and stunning views, showcased the Jimny’s capabilities and the beauty of South Africa’s landscapes.

From creating creative content to solving general knowledge questions, the scavenger hunt along the Eastern and Western Cape coastline left our team rushing with adrenaline. The maps, clues and tasks delivered on an iPad guided the team through the highways and hinterlands of South Africa’s incredible nature, putting team members to the ultimate physical and mental test.

Well into the early winter night, the teams eventually reached Knysna, checking in at the Knysna Hollow Country Estate, a beautiful 4-star country hotel just outside Knysna with Garden Suites and home comforts. After a long day of travel and exploration, the teams had a chance to enjoy a relaxing dinner in the main restaurant, sharing stories and highlights from the day’s adventures.

The second day started with an early breakfast at the hotel, followed by check-out and a chance to make up on much needed points, to secure pole position. The teams gathered in the parking area for a briefing before departing for George. The drive included more engaging activities, allowing participants to experience the thrill of adventure in the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door and the mental anguish of having to solve riddles, clues and general knowledge questions.

Upon arrival at Suzuki George around midday, teams had a chance to enjoy a light lunch and refreshments, before the event concluded with a final reveal of the winning team!

The #TakeOffForAdventure event highlighted the FlySafair and Suzuki collaboration, which runs until 31 July 2024. The campaign includes both an in-dealer and online competition, giving travellers a chance to win one of three Suzuki Jimny 5-Doors, each valued at over R429,900.
